Bell is an Assistant Professor of Sociology in the Politics, Law, and Society department. She is an interdisciplinary sociologist whose teaching, research, and public scholarship interests encompass different forms of collective action for - and cultural mediums supporting - transformative social justice. She earned her doctoral degree in Sociology at Brown University, a master's degree in Diplomacy at the Patterson School for Diplomacy and International Commerce (University of Kentucky), and a bachelor's degree in Development Studies at Brown University.
