Bryant Quick Fact

President Machtley unveils the new Amica Center for Career Education

On October 18th, Bryant President Ronald Machtley welcomed students, staff, and special guests to the dedication of the Amica Center for Career Education, formerly the Office of Career Services.   Bob DiMuccio, President of Amica and Tom Taylor '63, '98H, Chairman of the Bryant Board of Trustees and Retired President and CEO of Amica, also made remarks.

At the breakfast ceremony, President Machtley noted that the name change better reflects the comprehensive levels of career planning and support the office provides Bryant students and alumni.

The Amica Center for Career Education educates students about the career development process and helps them manage their careers for a lifetime through services which include:

  • Self-assessment through resume workshops, career testing, and mock interviews where students are videotaped and critiqued by staff.
  • Special programs to aid in the transition from academia to the professional world such as "Dressing for the Business World," "A Walk Down Wall Street," where students visit firms in New York and Boston, and "Successfully Transitioning to Your First Professional Job."
  • The Shadow Program, which allows students to spend a day with a Bryant alumnus during winter break
  • The Corporate Recruiting Program, which included 450 companies last year
  • The Annual Career Fair, which drew 90 companies and 700 students last year
  • The Academic Internship Program, which offered internships to 269 students last year

Bryant University and Amica Insurance have enjoyed a long and productive partnership through the years.  Amica participates in the Corporate Recruiting Program, offers internships for Bryant students, and has hired many Bryant graduates.  Judy Clare, Director of the Amica Center for Career Education, also conducts workshops for Amica's account managers as they finish their training program.

Students are encouraged to visit the Amica Center for Career Education from their first-year at Bryant through long after graduation.  For more information, contact careers@bryant.edu or call 401-232-6090.
