Taking a look at the Museum of the Confederacy - Appomattox

Lecturer Thom Bassett, an authority on Civil War Gen. William Sherman, recently toured Civil War battlefields in preparation for a book he is writing. His travels took him to the new Museum of the Confederacy - Appomattox, which he reviewed for the blog Civil War Memory.

Overall, he writes, the museum "is a superb example of sophisticated, accessible, evocative, intellectually honest public narrative about the Civil War. While it’s in some respects still very much a work in progress, the museum nonetheless already meaningfully informs and engages the public about the war and its significance today."
