Bryant University Maintains 20 Years of Prestigious AACSB Business Accreditation
SMITHFIELD, RI – The College of Business at Bryant University, a leading private university offering a uniquely integrated business and liberal arts education, has maintained its business accreditation by AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees in business and accounting. Bryant’s business programs have been AACSB-accredited since 1994.
For more than 150 years, Bryant’s innovative academic programs have been marketplace driven and highly attuned to the emerging needs of industry and society. Bryant’s College of Business offers distinctive real-world experiences for its students, who graduate empowered by global perspectives and new ways of thinking and learning. AACSB Accreditation is recognized as the hallmark of excellence in business education, and has been earned by less than five percent of the world's business programs. Today, there are 672 business schools in 42 countries and territories that maintain AACSB Accreditation.
“Bryant has been bold in imagining the future, and our innovative programs prepare graduates to meet challenges head-on. We have recently undertaken several key initiatives that that have reinforced our foundation for a Bryant of even greater enduring strength in the future-- a Bryant University that contributes significantly to the larger world through the leaders we produce. We are pleased that AACSB’s maintenance of accreditation provides an endorsement of our strategic vision,” said Bryant University President Ronald K. Machtley.
Bryant University’s Maintenance of Accreditation effort was led by V.K. Unni, D.B.A., who has been at Bryant since 1997 and currently serves as Dean of the College of Business and Distinguished Professor of Business. Unni, who previously served for 13 years as Bryant’s Vice President for Academic Affairs, was highly successful in leading Bryant through laudatory AACSB reaccreditation efforts in 1998, 2008, and 2013.
“It takes a great deal of commitment and determination to earn and maintain AACSB Accreditation,” said Robert D. Reid, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. “Business schools must not only meet specific standards of excellence, but their deans, faculty, and professional staff must make a commitment to ongoing continuous improvement to ensure that the institution will continue to deliver the highest quality of education to students.”
“This successful effort is a testament to our dedicated faculty in both the undergraduate and graduate programs,” said Unni. “I am highly pleased to have earned this continued distinguished recognition for Bryant, which is a reflection of the University’s exceptional business programs, faculty, and students. The reaccreditation encourages us to continually improve the fine quality learning environment we deliver at Bryant University, and required the effective collaboration of faculty and administrative staff.”
“Bryant’s innovative, globally-focused education provides the perspective and insight our students seek in order to be successful and active citizens of the world,” said Vice President for Academic Affairs Jose-Marie Griffiths, Ph. D. “Designations including our 20 years of AACSB accreditation and national rankings point to Bryant’s academic excellence and affirm the quality of the Bryant experience.”
