Nicholas Zacchilli ’16: Tapping into the power of Bryant’s alumni network
Majors: Finance, Applied Analytics
Hometown: Londonderry, NH
Path: Nomura Securities, New York City
Nicholas Zacchilli’s internship at Nomura Securities in New York City last summer left an impression on both Zacchilli and his managers. It led to a full-time job offer as an investment banking analyst just a few weeks later.
“I accepted on the spot,” he says. “There was definitely a weight lifted off my shoulders knowing I had a job before my senior year began – with a company whose culture I enjoy.”
The Archway Investment Fund "is providing me with tremendous hands-on experience."
He learned about Nomura Securities through a Bryant alumni contact, whom he later met at a Wall Street Council alumni event in New York City. (The Wall Street Council is an alliance of Bryant alumni, parents, and friends dedicated to enhancing the University’s profile in the world’s iconic financial center and helping Bryant students to launch careers in finance.)
“Much of my success is attributable to connections made at these events,” he says. “The Wall Street Council is one of the primary reasons I was able to obtain a summer internship at Nomura Securities.”
Zacchilli, who also interned at Fidelity Investments and Hanover Insurance, is currently participating in Bryant’s Archway Investment Fund, a two-course program where students manage a $1 million portfolio, first in the role of securities analysts, then, as portfolio managers.
“Being part of the Archway Investment Fund is one of the highlights of my Bryant career,” he says. “It is providing me with tremendous hands-on experience, where I am learning everything I can about equity research and portfolio management.”
The Finance and Applied Analytics double major cites the Bryant Alumni Shadow Program, where students are paired with alumni on the job, as an extremely beneficial program offered by Bryant’s nationally recognized Amica Center for Career Education.
“I was fortunate enough to shadow four different Bryant alumni during my time here, and each one provided me with valuable career guidance and advice.”
