Ray Fogarty to serve on Brookings panel on manufacturing policy

Smithfield, RI – On Thursday, July 13, 2017, the Brookings Institution will host the sixth annual John White Forum on Manufacturing. Several panels scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon will discuss the “Future of Manufacturing Policy under the Trump Administration.”

Ray Fogarty, executive director of Bryant’s John H. Chafee Center for International Business, will serve on the panel, Global Perspective: International trade policy and its ramifications. Fogarty will join co-panelists Michelle Drew Rodriguez, Manufacturing Leader at the Deloitte Center for Industry Insights; Mario Rebello, Managing Director of Government Relations, Lenovo; and Washington Post reporter Ana Swanson, who will moderate the one-hour session.

For more than 35 years, Fogarty and his team have supported Bryant University's mission to provide global undergraduate, graduate, and professional education programs through collaborations with faculty and students. The Chafee Center has trained and assisted thousands of individuals and businesses, providing market research, corporate training, and strategic consulting on international business matters.

Fogarty has deep knowledge of the opportunities and obstacles for large and small manufacturers in the global marketplace. He brings valuable perspective on critical issues including: defining trade policy to avoid unintended consequences, global supply chain flexibility, close proximity to consumers, talent acquisition and retention, and intellectual property and patent infringement.

The John Hazen White Forum on Public Policy convenes leaders from academia, business, and government to discuss and identify solutions to the United States’ most pressing challenges. The event will be held at the Brookings Institution, Falk Auditorium, 175 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C., and can also be viewed via webcast.
