World Trade Day 2017 will explore global business connections

Save the date for the 32 nd  annual World Trade Day on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bryant University.

World Trade Day is one of the largest international trade conferences in the Northeast with more than 500 expected to attend. Participants will benefit from the experience and perspective of keynote speakers, expert panel discussions, and workshops on topics ranging from international trade policy to innovative growth strategies.

This year’s agenda under the theme Connecting the World through Global Business will focus on the interconnectedness of world economies and how international trade policies will impact global markets and individual businesses. Speakers and workshops will explore global economic and geopolitical dynamics, corporate infrastructures, supply chain trends, and more. World Trade Day provides a unique opportunity to participate in discussions on these and other global issues.

Keynote speaker Joshua Meltzer, senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, will discuss the meaning and impact of globalization for the United States. Meltzer is a senior fellow in the Global Economy and Development program at the Brookings Institution and an adjunct professor at the Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies where he teaches international trade law. At Brookings, Meltzer works on international trade law and policy issues with a focus on the World Trade Organization and large free-trade agreements such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement. He has testified on trade issues before the U.S. Congress, the U.S. International Trade Commission and the European Parliament. Prior to joining Brookings, he was posted as a diplomat at the Australian Embassy.

The World Trade Day committee, led by Jason Kelly, Executive Vice President, Moran Shipping Agencies, and Paul Oliveira, shareholder, Director of Tax Services, KLR, has organized a powerful slate of speakers and workshops.
