IDEA - helping students learn to adapt

The Providence Journal reports on Bryant's inaugural Innovation Design Experience for All (IDEA), the latest component of the University's nationally-recognized First-Year Gateway.

The three-day project involves all members of the Class of 2016 and scores of Bryant faculty, staff and student mentors. “It’s important how you teach, not just what you teach,” said President Ronald Machtley. “This program is experiential.”

The program is "changing [the freshmen's] way of thinking,”  Chris Morse, assistant professor of communication, told the reporter. “They’re used to coming up with a single idea. We’re saying come up with multiple ideas. Try them. You’ll have failures and you can learn from them later.”
