Chinese education delegation, Bryant sign new partnership agreements

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – As part of its Vision 2020 Strategic Plan and continued upward trajectory as a leader in international education, Bryant University is strengthening its unique educational joint partnerships between Bryant and both the China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and the Beijing Institute of Technology Zhuhai . Led by Dr. Ping Hao, the vice minister of education for the People’s Republic of China, representatives from each institution visited the university on Sunday, April 7 th , to execute new partnership agreements.

Bryant is now among the ranks of an elite few U.S. universities that have significant alliances in China.

These activities include the joint venture agreement between Beijing Institute of Technology in Zhuhai, the U.S.-China Institute at Bryant, the Confucius Institute , and plans for the unprecedented reconstruction of an iconic replica of the Shu Fang Zhai planned in Smithfield.

“We are honored to welcome these leaders to our campus,” said Machtley. “For more than 15 years, Bryant has forged partnerships between our university and higher learning institutions, cultural organizations, and government offices in China through our U.S.-China Institute and The Confucius Institute. Our vision is that Bryant’s joint partnerships and Shu Fang Zhai reconstruction will create an even stronger bridge between our two nations, providing unique educational opportunities for students.”

The Chinese delegation of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China was led by the vice minister, who was joined by other senior leaders of the Ministry of Education and representatives of the Chinese government.

罗德岛州史密斯菲尔德市——布莱恩特大学在“2020发展规划”和领跑国际教育理念的指导下,与中国地质大学(武汉)(CUG)和北京理工大学珠海学院(BITZH)就进一步推动并加深互相间的教育合作达成共识。由中华人民共和国教育部副部长郝平博士和相关学校领导组成的代表团在四月七日(周日)访问并参观了布莱恩特大学,期间双方签署了合作协议。

布莱恩特大学是全美为数不多的与中国保持密切互动与合作的优秀学府之一。在过去的15年中,布莱恩特大学在中国项目上开创诸多先河并取得丰硕的成果,其中包括:与北京理工大学珠海学院签署联合办学合作协议、在布莱恩特大学成立美中研究所和孔子学院、以及史无前例地计划在史密斯菲尔德市的校园内仿建故宫漱芳斋建筑。
