Bryant hands out Media Awards

Adam Muccino, '07 was honored as "Media Student of the Year" at the annual event that recognizes the media organizations on campus.

Adam Muccino, '07 (Chepachet, RI), the general manager of 88.7 WJMF-FM radio, was named the Media Student of the Year at the fifth annual Media Awards Banquet held on April 24.

Muccino has been involved with WJMF since his freshman year and has served as the General Manager for the last three years.

His desire to get involved on campus is rooted in his commitment to giving back to the University. The accolades are just the icing on the cake.

"It is nice to be recognized in front of your peers and faculty," he said.

The award is given annually to a student from one of the four media organizations at Bryant: The Archway (student newspaper), The Ledger (yearbook), WJMF, 88.7 FM or the Media Production group. In order to be considered, students must have been involved with the organization for the full academic year and maintain good academic and judicial standing.

This year Muccino's media activities included:

  • Working on WJMF's annual fundraiser "Bryant Held Hostage" with his good friend and WJMF Marketing Director Joe Cordone '07 (Chepachet, RI)
  • An interview with then Lt. Governor Charles Fogarty for a Get Out the Vote rally
  • Winning a Battle of the Bands competition with his band, The Mind of Ein, and recording an album.

Along with the other presidents of the four main media clubs, Muccino helped to bring the groups together and work collaboratively.

"The students involved in these organizations work hard, day and night, and we are very proud of the work they've accomplished this year," said Meagan Sage, assistant director of student activities and advisor to the Archway, Ledger and WJMF.
