Center for Student Involvement recognizes student leaders

Biweekly award honors students who help enhance campus life at Bryant.

The Center for Student Involvement Student Spotlight Award recognizes students who go above and beyond to foster campus life at Bryant.

The first award of the spring semester went to Matt Buttaro ’09, a finance concentrator from Walpole, MA. He was recognized for his devotion to a variety of activities and his welcoming attitude toward all students on campus.

Buttaro is the treasurer of the Student Programming Board (SPB), as well as a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, a leadership honor society, and the Center for Student Involvement’s Lead Team.

“My favorite part of getting involved at Bryant is learning from all the other leaders around me,” says Buttaro. “They have all helped me grow as a person as well as develop my leadership skills.”

His role as the treasure for SPB – one of the largest organizations on campus – is valuable training for the future, as he hopes to work in investment management.

“In my career I will always carry with me the ability to work well with others, balance many projects, and work with deadlines – and have fun doing it,” he says.

Buttaro says he knew the first time he visited the campus that Bryant was the place for him.

“The second I came to Bryant I knew it felt right,” he says.

The second award went to Brian Robinson ’09, a finance concentrator from Portland, ME. He was honored for his involvement on campus and his ability to inspire students.

He is a resident assistant, student ambassador, and a member of Omicron Delta Kappa. In addition to serving as treasurer of the Finance Association and the Society for Human Resource Management, Robinson also took part in the CSI’s Students Advancing in Leadership (SAIL) and Students Taking an Active Role (STAR) programs.

“Whether it is meeting students, making lifelong friends, or developing leadership and time management skills, student organizations allow students to grow as individuals, prepare for their careers, and build a balanced lifestyle,” says Robinson.

His involvement on campus gives him valuable handson experience that will help differentiate him to potential employers.

“These activities have allowed me to hold leadership roles and build my character, which I hope will lead me to a successful future in any career path,” he says.

Robinson said he chose Bryant because of the blend of business and liberal arts education, and the wide variety of activities that he is confident will put him on the fast track to success.

“I was attracted to Bryant by the welcoming individuals on campus and the endless opportunities the University offers its students in the classroom, outside the classroom, and after graduation,” says Robinson.
