November 4, 2008 Meet Bryant’s first-year class cochairsCory Cloutier ’12 and Katarzyna Rokos ’12 help plan events and fundraisers to build school spirit. The excitement is high on Election Day as the country picks the next president of the United States. Albeit on a smaller scale, Bryant first-year students Cory Cloutier (Charlton, MA) and Katarzyna Rokos (North Andover, MA) know the exhilaration of winning an election. They are two of six first-year students elected to the Student Senate. Recently, Cloutier and Rokos were also appointed cochairs of their class. They are responsible for building school spirit among Bryant’s newest students. “I wanted to become a first-year class cochair because I can be in charge of my experience at Bryant and guarantee that my classmates and I have a great year,” says Rokos. Being a class cochair is one of the ways Cloutier hopes to leave his mark on campus. “I want to do all that I can to help enhance campus life,” he says. Getting involvedIt hasn’t taken long for Rokos and Cloutier to immerse themselves in the Bryant community. A marketing concentrator, Rokos is president of the Hall Council for Hall 15 and a student ambassador. “My favorite part of being a student at Bryant is how easy it is to feel comfortable on campus,” she says. “It is small enough to know someone in Salmanson but large enough to meet new people.” Cloutier, an accounting concentrator, is a member of the Student Programming Board, the Finance Association, Bryant Helps, Toastmasters, and an intramural soccer team. “It is easy to get involved and meet new people here – everyone is so outgoing and friendly,” he says.

Rokos was first attracted to Bryant when an admission representative visited her high school. She knew it was the place for her when she saw the beautiful campus and had the opportunity to interact with the welcoming people that make up the Bryant community. Cloutier, a Early Decision applicant, says Bryant was his first choice from the beginning. “The minute I walked on campus, I knew I wanted to come to Bryant.” Building a communityRokos hopes to meet many of her fellow first-year students by planning regular campus events. She encourages students to approach her with their concerns or ideas for events. “I want to hear them,” she says Cloutier says he hopes ongoing events will build unity among the class as they move forward in their Bryant careers. “We hope to get every person in our class involved and having fun,” he says.
