A Major

Information technology professionals are an indispensable part of all organizations. By creating the right tools, technologists provide the means for the production, management, and dissemination of information.

The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology includes eight courses of in-depth study in the field of information technology, to complement the business and liberal arts core.

Studying Information Technology at Bryant

Information Technology is a growing field that requires skills that extend beyond understanding technology.

The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (IT) combines traditional computer science courses and knowledge of management and financial practices.  This blended curriculum offers the range of skills that are essential to success in all careers.

Specifically, IT students benefit from exposure to mathematics, science, and diverse technology including programming languages, relational databases, telecommunications, data structure, Web site development, computer architecture, digital arts, and project management. The program also focuses on the creation of technology tools and covers topics of software architecture, data structures, and algorithm design.

Courses

Students in the Information Technology major must complete the following major requirements:

  • Program Design and Logic
  • Telecommunication Fundamentals
  • Algorithms and Design
  • Data Structures
  • Database Management Systems
  • Computer Architecture
  • Project Management and Practice
  • Systems Analysis and Design
  • Four (4) Information Technology Electives (At least two electives must be IT course designation with at least one at the 400 level. Two electives may be IT or CIS course designation at the 300 level or higher)
