An Interest Area

The impact of technological innovations extends beyond the realms of science and engineering. The fast-paced technological changes of the early twenty-first century pervade all aspects of society.

The Technology and Society interest area examines the cultural and historical transformations stimulated by technological advances. Students may take one or all of the courses in this area of study. These courses may be applied to your degree requirements or taken as electives.

Studying Technology and Society at Bryant

Understanding how modern society has been transformed by technology, as well as its historical impact since the beginnings of industrialization, prepares students to examine and evaluate technology’s role within a dynamic global environment.

The Technology and Society interest area focuses on the evolution and social dimensions of technological developments through a number of different disciplines. Studying the social impact and underpinnings of technology fosters a variety of analytical, critical, and abstract thinking skills, as well as provides an opportunity to strengthen oral and written communications skills.
