Learning Disability Services

Process of Academic Accommodation

  1. Students schedule an appointment and meet with the Learning Specialist at the start of each semester to request academic accommodations for specific courses.

  2. Current documentation of a specific disability must be submitted at the initial appointment.

  3. During the initial appointment:

    • An intake form is completed
    • Documentation is submitted for review
    • Student submits official course schedule for the current semester
    • An Academic Accommodations Master Form for the current semester is completed
    • Responsibilities/recommendations are discussed

  4. The Assistant Director of Learning Disability Services sends a letter to each faculty member for whom academic accommodations have been approved. The letter verifies the presence of a documented disability but does not implement any accommodations.

  5. Students must meet with each faculty member to discuss the practical arrangements for each specific academic accommodation within five (5) days of signing the Academic Accommodations Master Form.

  6. Students should schedule appointments throughout the semester to follow-up with the Learning Specialist.

  7. Students must schedule an appointment with the Assistant Director of Learning Disability Services at the start of each semester since specific academic accommodations are approved on a case-by-case basis for the current semester.

Bryant University's Academic Center for Excellence provides academic accommodations for students with documented disabilities in compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and the ADA Amendments Act of 2008.

Although Bryant University does not have a specialized program for students with disabilities, a full range of academic support services are also available to all Bryant students through ACE.
