Working at ACE and The Writing Center

Writing Consultants

Writing Consultants work collaboratively with students who would like assistance with writing assignments. Writing Consultants meet with students individually and in groups to help them improve their writing skills.

To be considered for hiring as a Writing Consultant, students must:

  • Complete a Writing Consultant application
  • Have a minimum GPA of a 3.2, as evidenced by a submitted transcript
  • Acquire recommendations from 3 Bryant faculty members
  • Submit a writing sample

Writing Consulting is a merit-based position; that is, both students who are eligible to receive work-study and those who are not are welcome to apply.

The Writing Center is exempt from the “one job per student” policy, thus allowing students to work in the Writing Center and another office on campus.

 

Peer Tutors

Peer Tutors work collaboratively with students who would like assistance in Math, Economics, Accounting, Finance and Foreign Language. Peer Tutors meet with students individually and in groups to help them with both course content and study strategies.

To be considered for a Peer Tutor position, students must:

  • Complete a Peer Tutor application
  • Have a minimum GPA of a 3.2, as evidenced by a submitted transcript
  • Acquire recommendations from 3 Bryant faculty members
  • Have taken and received a “B” or higher in the courses to be tutored

Office Assistants

Office Assistants are an integral part of the operation of ACE and the Writing Center.  They work to familiarize students with the services offered, and support ACE and the Writing Center through:

  1. Booking tutoring appointments
  2. Familiarizing students with ACE and Writing Center policies
  3. Answering phones, filing, and making copies
  4. Maintaining databases

To be considered for an Office Assistant position, students must:

  • Be work-study eligible
  • Complete a Office Assistant application packet
