Academic Skills ServicesBryant provides Academic Skills Services to students in order to help them develop college level academic skills and become more successful learners. The Academic Skills Specialist meets with students individually, visit classrooms and presents workshops. Students can receive guidance and skill-building in the following areas: reading, note taking, time management, test preparation, test taking, learning styles, and general learning assistance. Many times students find themselves putting time and effort into their studying but not achieving the desired results. They are aware “something” needs to change but are not quite sure how to begin the process. This is where the Academic Skills Specialist can be of assistance by meeting with the student, taking a close look at the overall picture, and addressing his or her specific needs. In addition to the one-on-one service, the Specialist may refer the student to specific tutors, specialists, or other resources within the university. The student’s progress is then tracked through follow up appointments, emails, or phone calls. Patricia Lange is Bryant’s Academic Skills Specialist. You can contact her by calling 232-6746.
