Bryant University. The Character of Success

Withdrawal Information

Withdrawing from a course or from Bryant is an important decision and one to be considered carefully.

Please remember that until you officially withdraw from a course or from Bryant University you are considered active and responsible both academically and financially.

Please remember that there are important deadlines when withdrawing.  If you do decide to withdraw, please complete your paperwork as soon as possible.

Withdrawing from a Course: The Withdrawal Grade

If you choose to withdraw from a course you must pick up a withdrawal form in the Office of Academic Records, MRC 202.  You must then complete the form and obtain the signatures of the instructor of the course and your academic advisor.  When the form has been completed with all of the appropriate signatures, you must submit it to our office for processing by posted deadlines.

Withdrawal from a course will result in a reduction of credits and may affect your student status.

Dropping below full-time status (12 credits) may have serious consequences. Aside from affecting NCAA standing, you may even lose your health benefits or financial aid.

If you withdraw from a class after the add/drop period has ended and up to and including the tenth week of the spring and fall semesters, you will be assigned a grade of “W” for the course. This grade carries no academic penalty

After the 10th week of classes, if you choose to withdraw from a class, you will be issued one of the following grades at the faculty member’s discretion:

  • WP” At the discretion of the faculty member, a student is allowed to withdraw without penalty after the tenth week of classes. This grade carries no academic penalty.*

  • WF” At the discretion of the faculty member, a student is allowed to withdraw WITH penalty (failing grade) after the tenth week of classes. This grade is computed into your GPA as a failing grade.*

*Note well: You may not withdraw from a course after the final exam is administered regardless of whether or not you sit for the exam.  Forms must have all signatures and be submitted to our office before the final exam.
