Tuition Insurance

Bryant University offers a Tuition Refund Plan to protect the financial investment of students and parents in education. This plan is an optional insurance that may allow for a refund of 100% of the semester's tuition and fees should a medical problem force a withdrawal at any time during the semester. The university policy does allow for partial refunds during the first four weeks of classes. However, this additional tuition insurance covers medical circumstances that may occur after the fourth week of classes when the university refund policy is no longer in effect. Each July enrolled students will receive a letter from A.W.G. Dewar, Inc. with an enrollment form for the Tuition Refund Plan. The plan must be purchased prior to the start of semester. Injury & Sickness Withdrawals
Psychological/Emotional Withdrawals In both cases above, a complete withdrawal from the university is required. The student is required to provide a written notice to the Undergraduate Advising Office advising that they will not be returning to the university due to an injury or sickness. A written statement from the student's doctor certifying the injury or sickness and a written statement from the university certifying the withdrawal must be submitted to the insurance company. Under the plan, a student is unable to receive academic credit for the semester in which they are withdrawing. CONDITIONS OF COVERAGEThe insurance plan covers a full term from the start of classes to the last day of classes. The application must be postmarked before the start of the semester. No applications can be accepted if mailed after the student starts classes. The coverage refunds on a term basis only. The premium covers a full year. If for some reason a student does not return to the university for subsequent terms, A.W.G. Dewar, Inc. must be notified so that any unused premium can be refunded. EXCLUSIONSThe plan does not cover the following: War or any act of war, declared or undeclared; terrorism; the use of any drug, narcotic or agent similarly classed or has similar effects (except when prescribed by a doctor); taking part in a riot; failure to attend classes for any reason other than injury or sickness; nuclear reaction; nuclear radiation or radioactive contamination. CLAIMSClaim forms can be obtained from the University's Risk Manager, Susan Colantonio. Claims should be reported within 30 days from occurrence or as soon as it is reasonably possible. The benefit payment is made directly to the university and credited to the student's account. COSTThe premium cost is .9 percent of the cost of tuition, room and board.
