Bryant University. The Character of Success

Laptop Program Overview

The Bryant University Student Laptop Program was launched in the Fall of 2002. 700 entering freshmen were issued IBM A31p ThinkPads for their academic and personal use, with the goal that the technology would both enhance their learning experience, and provide an equal footing for all students to engage the rapidly evolving business world. Now entering its seventh year of operation, the Bryant Laptop Program currently maintains over 3300 laptops campus-wide, and is an integral part of Bryant's continued emphasis on technology.

An IBM / Lenovo ThinkPad is issued to all incoming students as part of the Bryant tuition package. Students keep this machine until the beginning of their Junior year, at which time it is exchanged for a new model ThinkPad. Upon successful completion of their senior year, this laptop is theirs to keep without any further fee or expense. Juniors also have the option to purchase their two year old machine at a reduced price in addition to receiving their new laptop. All Bryant issued laptops are purchased with a 3 year warranty from IBM / Lenovo, assuring post-graduate longevity.

Students are responsible for the care and proper usage of the laptop as specified both in the Student Agreement signed at initial pickup and Bryant's Academic Computing Policy; however, within those boundaries they are free to do with the machine what they please.

Laptop Central, the Bryant Student HelpDesk, provides on-campus six-day-a-week hardware and software technical support to the student body.
