Switching Windows Printer
Many times different printers are needed to accomplish different tasks, for example, printing drafts to one printer and high-resolution finals to another. Another possibility may be black-and-white prints to an HP LaserJet and color prints to an HP Color DeskJet
Windows makes switching between printers very easy. The procedure to do so follows;
-
Click on File/Print. A dialog box pops open with various choices regarding the number of pages, how many copies to print, etc...
-
In most Windows programs (Word is used in the example below), click on the drop down arrow and select the desired printer to which you would like to print.
Keep in mind that different printers use different specifications for defining a page, so some additional editing may be required.
The best rule-of-thumb is to, if possible, select the printer you will be printing to before opening your document or creating a new one. To do that, go to Start/Settings/Printers, right-click on the desired printer, select "Set As Default". Click away from the drop menu to close it. That printer will always be the default until the settings are changed again.
