The Golden Jasmine Chinese Film Festival (GJCFF) is a new initiative aimed at introducing Chinese social, cultural and economic landscape to the American audiences through authentic Chinese films and interaction with filmmakers. Held in September with monthly screenings and open to the general public, the Festival is a collaboration between the US-China Institute and Confucius Institute at Bryant University, the Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF).
Up the Yangtze
The documentary follows the lives of two young Chinese working on a l luxury cruise ship that feeds the hunger of tourists to have a last look at the Yangtze River’s legendary valley. The film observes the astonishing transformation of China’s longest river as well as the human impact brought by the largest hydroelectric project in history, the Three Gorges Dam.
Up the Yangtze is an Official Selection of the 2008 Sundance Film Festival and the winner of a Special News & Documentary Emmy Award for Excellence in Television Documentary Filmmaking.

Free and open to the public. Chinese food will be provided for $5.00. A raffle will be conducted.
The screening is cohosted with the Culture Bridge, a Bryant student group at class of MGT200-C.
