The Order of Omega

New Omega Initiates Spring 2009

The Order of Omega is a Greek National Honor Society. This national honor society recognizes students who have attained a high standard of leadership in inter-Greek activities while maintaining high academic excellence. Only 15 members of the Greek community are selected to be members of The Order of Omega. Students may apply to be members during the open application process in the fall and spring semesters. The average cumulative GPA for members is a 3.4. The current officers are:

President: Rachael Hylan

Vice President: Alyssa McLaughlin

Treasurer: Amanda Aarons

Secretary: Kerri Moriarty

One member of the Order of Omega also serves as the academic chair on the Greek Life Executive Board.  The current academic chair is Arielle Purcell.

Order of Omega meetings take place every other Tuesday at 5pm in 2A/2B in the Bryant Center alternating with GAMMA meetings.

The group sponsored a book drive during the Spring 2006 where they collected books from students, faculty and staff and donated them to local shelter. The Order of Omega also sponsored a free Starbucks Coffee table for the people participating in the Relay for Life in April 2007.

All Order of Omega members proctor 1-2 Greek Life study halls per month. Any Greek Life student earning lower than a 2.3 semester average must attend 4 mandatory study hours per month.

The Bryant University Nu Beta Chapter of the Order of Omega was recognized at the 2007 NGLA Conference with the 2006-2007 Outstanding Chapter Award.  The chapter decided to use its prize money to purchase artwork, white boards, and bulletin boards for the Academic Center for Excellence.  The chapter's accomplishments were recently profiled on Bryant's homepage.  In 2008 and 2009 our chapter was the only one in the Northeast to be given Honorable Mention for the same award!
