4Mile@bryant (Multicultural & International Leadership Experience)
August 25 - August 29
The ICC welcomes incoming multicultural and international students to an orientation that connects students with resources and networks to support their academic, personal, cultural and social success at Bryant. 4Mile@bryant is an opportunity for students to build friendships and bonds for a smoother transition to campus life. Students are guided through the process with experienced staff and selected Bryant student mentors.

SEPTEMBER

Latino Heritage Month
September 15 - October 15
National Latino/a Heritage Month is an opportunity to recognize the contributions of Latino/a people and pay tribute to diversity in America. Bryant University celebrates with presentations, exhibits, music, dance, and cultural meals. Visit the ICC, Bryant Center to experience a journey through Latin America in pictures and text.

OCTOBER

MIPA & Dean's List Recognition
October 18@ 11am Intercultural Center
The ICC welcomes families to share the joys and challenges of multicultural and international parenting at Bryant. Parents are invited to serve as mentor, host family, presenter or general support to Bryant's growing multicultural and international student body. Refreshments will be served. We will also recognize spring semester Dean's List recipients, welcome new students and enjoy music, games and a delicious meal.

Diwali/RamadanCelebration
October 11 @ 6pm Performance in Janikies, dinner to follow in the Rotunda from 7-8. Please RSVP for dinner

Diwali is a five day Hindu festival often referred to as the "Festival of Lights". This festival is celebrated on a grand scale in almost all the regions of India and the Hindu diaspora. Diwali marks the beginning of the New Year and emphasizes renewal of life. Celebrations vary among regions as the tradition is rooted in regional folklore and spiritualism.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic Lunar calendar and the holiest of the four holy months. It begins with the sighting of the new moon. The month of Ramadan is a time for spiritual reflection, prayer, doing good deeds and spending time with family and friends. The fasting is intended to help teach Muslims self-discipline, self-restraint and generosity.

International Education Week (IEW)
November 17 - 21
International Education Week (IEW) was established through a joint effort of the U.S. Departments of State and Education to promote and celebrate international education and multiculturalism. IEW consists of panel discussions, keynote speakers, class discussions and presentations and photo exhibits. Bryant's IEW heightens campus awareness of global issues and facilitates mutual understanding of international cooperation.

ISO's i2i Cultural Fashion Show
November 21 @ 8 - 10 pm (MAC)
i2i is a campus wide production that educates the Bryant community about global communities. It is produced by the International Student Organization (ISO) and draws on the talent and creativity of international and domestic students from various cultural backgrounds. This extraordinary event highlights the uniqueness of international populations through music, fashion, geography and culture.

Black History Month
February 2009
Black History Month activities are a tribute to African-American culture. Students, faculty and staff celebrate with a National Read In, Soul Food Buffet, presentations, exhibits, roundtables and a community service project with the South Side Boys & Girls Club. Sponsors for Black History Month include the Intercultural Center for International Education and Multicultural Affairs, Multicultural Student Union (MSU) and International Student Union (ISO).

Black History Month Read-In
February 2 @ 3 pm(Bryant Center Pit) The Eighteenth National African American Read-In Sponsored by the Black Caucus of NCTE (National Council of Teachers of English) The Read-In has been endorsed by the International Reading Association. Over a million readers of all ethnic groups participate. Just select your favorite black author and share. The goal is to make the celebration of African American literacy a traditional part of Black History Month activities.

MSU's Extravaganza Night
February 27@ 8 - 10 pm (MAC)
Extravaganza Night is one of the most popular productions on campus. This annual multimedia event is a showcase of African American history with an emphasis on cultural contributions in the performing arts, fashion and literature. Students from across the Bryant community participate in the production and contribute to intercultural understanding.

Men's & Women's Night Out

This gathering of international and multicultural students, faculty and administrators provides a forum for discussions on ideas, topics and issues of importance to the Bryant family and the community beyond Bryant.

8th Annual ICC Senior Awards Banquet
April 4 @ 6 pm (Stepan Grand Hall)
The ICC Senior Awards Banquet is an annual event sponsored by the ICC and a corporate partner. The event honors Bryant's graduating International and Multicultural Students for their outstanding contributions to the Bryant Community.RSVP by March 21 via phone or email

Asian Pacific American Heritage Month
April 2009
Asian Pacific American Heritage Month is a survey of the diverse populations of Asian descent that make up the nation's cultural landscape. The Bryant community recognizes the history and culture of Asian Americans with presentations, displays, discussions, films and a variety of cultural enrichment.
