Driver's LicenseThe Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles (RI DMV) by law is required to record Social Security Numbers for all applicants for a RI Driver's License. If you do not have a valid Social Security Number, you must present a foreign passport and appropriate visa or documentation to validate the ineligibility for a Social Security Number (rejection letter.) If you are 18 or older, and have never held a driver's license in Rhode Island, you must apply for an Instruction Permit.
