Philosophy on Working with Parents
You will hear a lot about the "character of success" while at Bryant. In Residence Life, we define that success in broad terms – success includes navigating life with roommates, selecting housing for upcoming years, making friends, learning outside the comfort zone, and finding a niche on campus.
We recognize that parents are an important partner in this process for our students as they become independent and develop their own sense of character. One of the most beneficial ways that we have seen parents support their students is by being a sounding board to allow students to weigh options in a decision-making process. Students may reach out to parents to vent frustrations, and in those instances we encourage parents to empower their students to directly address their own problems. Staff of the Office of Residence Life is always available to assist students with their transition issues or problems which may arise. While we welcome discussion with parents, we need to work directly with your student to resolve most issues.
We welcome you to Bryant, and are excited to work with you students as they begin to define their own character of success.
