Damage BillingAt the end of the year, Residence Life and Facilities staff members inspect all living spaces to determine damages that were not present prior to your student living in the space. These inspections are looking for damages that are beyond normal wear and tear. The housing fees incorporate the cost of repair and upkeep for normal wear and tear from living in the space. Damage billing charges apply to any damage that is deemed intentional, careless, or excessive. How does the damage deposit work? The $400 damage deposit is a one-time deposit paid upon entering housing. The deposit is held until the student leaves housing, either through withdrawing from housing or through graduating from the University. At that time, the damage deposit is returned to departing students, less whatever damage fines are charged to their account. Damages totaling more than $400 will result in the student receiving a damage bill for those additional charges. I did not receive a damage letter, but my account was charged? If you have a damage charge on your student account, but have not received a hard copy letter at your home mailing address, please contact the Office of Residence Life and we can resend the letter or provide you with a PDF to your Bryant student e-mail address. Can I appeal the damage charges?Yes. A student can request a Residence Life staff member review the file and supporting documentation. All requests should be made in writing to the Office of Residence through our web form. We do ask that students review and adhere to the following appeal guidelines prior to sending in a damage appeal letter. We kindly ask that damage appeals refrain from using insulting or vulgar language. All appeals must be submitted no later than July 9, 2011 We reserve the right to deny review of any damage billing after the appeal deadline. Please submit your appeal on-time. At this point in time the damage appeal deadline has passed and we are not accepting any additional requests for appeal. Appeal guidelines:
