Charitable IRA Rollover Extended to 2011

President Obama signed legislation into law that once again enables Americans 70 ½ and older to make tax-free distributions of up to $100,000 from their IRAs to qualified charitable organizations.

You can take advantage of this special opportunity throughout 2011, and as an added benefit, gifts made by Jan. 31, 2011, can be counted for the 2010 tax year, if you choose.

Now is a good time to maximize your charitable gift and make a difference at Bryant University.

Advantages of Charitable IRA Rollovers:

  • Satisfies requirements for annual minimum withdrawals
  • Avoids federal and, in many cases, state income taxes
  • Provides critical support to Bryant University, perhaps at a higher level than otherwise possible

Guidelines:

  • Donors must be 70 ½ years of age at time of distribution
  • Transfers must be made directly from the IRA administrator to Bryant University
  • Gifts may not exceed more than $100,000 per year
