U.S.-CHINA INSTITUTE

The U.S.-China Institute at Bryant University forges academic, business, and cultural partnerships between Bryant University and higher learning institutions, business enterprises, and governmental offices in China.

Last May, Bryant and the U.S.-China Institute announced that the first authentic replica of the Forbidden City's Shu Fang Zhai to be built outside of China with the permission and cooperation of the Chinese government will be built on the Bryant campus.

The proposed new structure will solidify the capabilities of the U.S.-China Institute and promote Bryant as a leader in Chinese education. The facility will feature:

  • a reception chamber,
  • auditorium,
  • stage and outdoor theatre,
  • gallery for Chinese arts,
  • library for Chinese literature and other print culture,
  • office space for Bryant's China-related programs, as well as possible
  • archival space for historic documentation from the National Committee on U.S.-China relations.

The project is expected to cost approximately $15 million.
