The Intercultural Center supports international and domestic students of color by serving as advocates for them in their educational path. We provide academic and cultural programs for the entire Bryant community and the community at large.
The primary programs of the Intercultural Center are 4MILE (Multicultural & International Leadership Experience), Lunar New Year Celebration, Black History Month, Annual ICC Senior Awards Banquet, and the ICC Dean's List Awards and 4MILE Recognition.
Goals
Provide support services which address the adjustment needs and ensure the success of domestic students of color and international students.
-
Foster within the community a respect for and appreciation of the history, traditions and cultures of a multicultural population.
-
Provide opportunities for the majority population to expand their worldviews and engage in intercultural communications and relations.
-
Serve as a resource to departments in developing policies, curriculum, programs and activities that increase the number of multi-ethnic students enrolling and staying at Bryant University.
Programs
-
4Mile welcomes incoming multicultural and international students to an orientation that connects students with resource and networks to support their academic, personal, cultural, and social success at Bryant. 4MILE@Bryant is an opportunity for students to build friendships and bonds for a smoother transition to campus life. Students are guided through the process with experienced staff and selected student mentors.
-
Bryant's international students lead Global Community Hours, a series of interactive sessions that explore different cultures. Students share their traditions, cuisines, and history with the members of the Bryant community.
-
Global Community Building (GCB) is a staff/faculty mentoring program to help international students keep connected to the Bryant Community. A small group of international students are matched with a staff/faculty mentor. Whether it is a personal note on their birthday or hosting them for several nights over the school breaks, students and their families appreciate knowing that although they may be thousands of miles away from home, they have support within the Bryant campus community.
