Services & Events

Since its opening in March 2002, the Women's Center has provided services and planned events to benefit the entire Bryant community.

Located on the 3rd floor of the Bryant Center, students, faculty, and staff have access to:

  • Confidential counseling
  • A resource library of films, videos, and books on women's issues
  • Referrals to health and social agencies in Rhode Island
  • Free condoms for students

The Gertrude Meth Hochberg Women's Center also holds events throughout the academic year to illuminate the community on issues that affect women:

 
Women's Herstory Award Winners 2011

  • Vagina Monologues
    Reenactment of Eve Ensler's play designed to end violence against girls and women through education and awareness
  • Human Sexuality Series
    A month-long series of informal discussions about sexuality issues affecting college students

In collaboration with other departments throughout campus, the Hochberg Women's Center takes part in on- and off- campus events:

  • International Education Week - a global initiative to celebrate multiculturalism
  • Residence Hall and Freshmen Foundation of Learning (FFL) presentations to first-year students
  • Guest Speakers and forums on current events affecting women
  • Bryant Night at the Perishable Theatre in Providence - a nonprofit dedicated to promoting the importance of arts in the community
  • Raise Your Voice Week - a national campaign to increase, celebrate, and deepen student civic engagement on college campuses
  • "Women in Business" - a lecture co-sponsored by the Students in Free Enterprise Association (SIFE)
  • The Women's Summit - an annual conference held at Bryant University
  • Programs on balancing family and work and the most female-friendly employers (presented with the Office of Career Services)
