James A Wood

James Wood is an Executive In Residence in the Department of Mathematics. He has worked for over 8 years as a Property/Casualty actuary in a variety of pricing and reserving roles, with his most recent role being the Head of Reserving for Latin America Specialty Insurance at Liberty Mutual. He is a Bryant alumnus from the Class of 2014 and has previously taught as an Adjunct Professor at Bryant. He is an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) and a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). He has served on the Casualty Actuaries of New England (CANE) board since 2016 and was President from March 2020-March 2021. James is a native of RI and a proud dual-citizen of Colombia. He speaks English, Spanish, and basic-level Portuguese. In his spare time he enjoys exercising, traveling, spending time with his family, friends and three adorable dogs, and going to the beach during the summer.
