Like many parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pappas were nervous when they dropped off their son on Move-in Day. When they returned for Parents and Family Weekend, they were delighted to see how happy he was.
Mr. and Mrs. Pappas were impressed by Bryant’s Sophomore International Experience and thought it wise of Christopher to take part in the semester-long class that concludes with a two-week travel experience with fellow Bryant students, faculty, and staff members. The trip to China was a powerful experience for their son, who returned a more confident and independent young man.
Aware that some of Christopher’s friends couldn’t afford to participate, Mr. and Mrs. Pappas became the first major Sophomore International Experience donors, helping other students take advantage of this transformational program.
While Christopher has thrived at Bryant, they have seen many of their son’s friends struggle financially to remain at the University. They wanted to do what they could to ease that burden for students and made a generous gift to the Annual Scholarship Program in 2010.
Throughout Christopher’s tenure at Bryant, Mr. and Mrs. Pappas have been members of the University’s Parents Council, a leadership group of Bryant parents and families working together to help the University fulfill its mission of providing an education that challenges, inspires, and prepares students for success.
Mr. and Mrs. Pappas have also helped the University build the Parents Fund, reaching out to other parents to support the progress made at Bryant over the past 15 years.
Mr. Pappas has donated his time and business expertise to Bryant, serving as a judge in the Bryant Elevator Pitch competition, one of the largest of its kind in the country -- and perhaps the most anticipated -- and feared -- aspect of Business 101.
Through their commitment to Bryant, Mr. and Mrs. Pappas provide a living example to their son -- and others -- of the importance of getting involved and what it means to be good stewards of the future.
Susan and William Pappas, through your exemplary commitment, you have helped the University advance its mission of providing an education that delivers the highest standards of academic excellence, character, and ethics within in a global, real-world context.
Bryant University is honored to call you Champions for Philanthropy.
