2014 Champions for Philanthropy Robert P. ´86 and Kathleen M. Brown, Outstanding Alumnus
Robert P. Brown ’86 is a strong believer in the power of education. It’s one of the important lessons he learned from his parents, who sacrificed so all six of their children could benefit from quality private college educations.
Brown credits Bryant with providing him with a strong foundation, teaching him how to learn, and inspiring confidence in his skills and capabilities, all of which allowed him to build a successful career. An esteemed leader in the finance industry, he is president of the Global Bond Division at Fidelity Investments. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing all portfolio management, research, trading, derivative, and currency activities for more than $250 billion in assets.
To ensure future generations have the opportunity to create a strong foundation, Brown and his wife, Kathleen, have made one of the largest gifts in Bryant’s 151-year history.
A member of Bryant’s Board of Trustees, Brown shares his time, experience, and expertise as he serves to the University. Proud of Bryant’s trajectory of success, he and Kathleen were inspired to make the University a philanthropic priority to help ensure its legacy of exceptional education that integrates theory with hands-on practice that prepares graduates to succeed in an age of unlimited global opportunity. The Browns’ generous gift will help Bryant to build facilities that are best in class and inspire current and future students to excel at Bryant and beyond.
The couple’s gift is also a way of honoring Brown’s parents and the lessons he learned from their selfless example.
Robert and Kathleen Brown, your support and leadership gifts signal an inspiring level of caring and personal commitment to Bryant and make it possible for the University to help students create their paths, expand their world, and achieve their success.
