Bryant rises to No. 9 in U.S. News rankings

Bryant rises to No. 9 in US News rankingsSMITHFIELD, RI — In the U.S. News & World Report 2017 Best College rankings released today, Bryant University breaks into the top 10 in the Regional Universities North category, rising to No. 9 from No. 11 last year. Bryant has jumped 15 points since its classification as a Masters North university in 2003.

“At Bryant, we look forward to the University's bright future. Years of planning and hard work by our dedicated faculty and staff have positioned us for this moment when our strategic innovations have reached critical mass," said Bryant University President Ronald K. Machtley.

Bryant's rise in college rankings is just one indicator of the cumulative growth, innovation, and transformation at the University. A record 7,309 students, the most in Bryant’s history, applied for a spot in the Class of 2020. This and other key internal and external measures reflect 20 years of visionary leadership and the valuable contributions of faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends.

Campus Transformation

Since 1996, Bryant’s campus has added close to 400,000 square feet of new buildings. Under the leadership of President Machtley, the historic Bryant Builds initiative, launched in 2015, is Bryant’s largest and most transformative facilities initiative since Bryant’s move from Providence to Smithfield 45 years ago, adding more than 250,000 square feet at the Smithfield campus and in Zhuhai, China. These projects were launched with more than $62 million received so far in Bryant’s capital campaign, Expanding the World of Opportunity: The Campaign for Bryant’s Bold Future.

Global Academic Excellence and Innovation

Bryant offers an unmatched learning environment that anticipates the future and advances innovation, design thinking, and creative problem solving.

  • The new Academic Innovation Center, opened in September 2016, provides spaces for innovative and interdisciplinary teaching and learning where students test their ideas, advance their thinking, and prepare for success.
  • Bryant University welcomed the first entering class at Bryant Zhuhai, located in Guangdong Province, China, in September 2015.
  • The First-Year Gateway and IDEA (Innovative Design Experience for All) programs reflect global cross-disciplinary perspectives as faculty guide students to apply creative thinking and problem solving to real-world scenarios.
  • The Sophomore International Experience and study abroad programs give students abundant opportunities for immersive global experiences that prepare them to live and work in a world that is more iconnected than ever.

Student and Alumni Success

  • 99% of Bryant’s Class of 2015 graduates were employed or enrolled in graduate school within six months of graduating.
  • The median first-year salary is $55,000 for 2015 graduates of the  College of Business and the College of Arts and Sciences.
