Valerie Ann Carrigan

Valerie Carrigan joins us from Green Mountain College where she held the position of Associate Professor of Art before the college closed its doors in 2019. In her new role as Lecturer and Artist-in-Residence at Bryant University, Carrigan teaches courses in Drawing, Art and Design, and Studies of the Book. When not teaching, she works out of her studio in a historic mill in western Massachusetts where she produces drawings, paintings, prints and artist books exploring the intersection of the natural world and the human spirit. Carrigan is a 2021 recipient of the Martha Boschen Porter Fund of the Berkshire Taconic Foundation. She is an awardee of the Assets for Artists Grant through Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA) and an Individual Artist Grant through the Cultural Council of Northern Berkshire in Massachusetts. Her prints and artist books are held in such collections as the Smithsonian Libraries Artists' Book Collection, Smith College Book Arts Collection and Swarthmore College Special Collections among others.
