Maura Ann Dowling
Senior Lecturer, Finance, B.A., M.A. Potsdam College (SUNY); M.A. Brown University. Certified Financial Planner and wealth consultant in industry as well as private practice. Experimenting with value-creation in client work that involves "client best interest" which means providing second opinions on products and strategies that others "sell" to clients. Began as Financial Advisor at UBS, promoted go Branch Sales Manager and then Mid-Atlantic Regional Wealth Consultant. Developed the wealth management model for entrepreneurial families at a large regional CPA firm (DiSanto Priest). Product placement and assets-under-management create conflict-of-interest with typical business models - my work is to reevaluate this to enhance value creation.

In the classroom I foster awareness and practice of values-in-action. My purpose is helping students understand concepts of value creation in society, business and the financial world. Different mental models are explored so that metacognitive awareness is cultivated.
