Patricia Gomez

Patricia is a native Texan of Hispanic descent. She was born and raised in South Texas and has a passion for teaching the Spanish language. She holds a MA and BA in Communications from the University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg, Texas. She also lived abroad in Chile where she taught language and served in an administrative role in an English Institute and also taught to high-end business professionals for a year after completing her graduate studies. She taught previously at the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC for 5 years in the Hispanic Studies Department before joining Bryant in 2006. She has traveled extensively throughout South America, Central America, Mexico, and Europe including Spain. At the university level, she has taught beginner, intermediate, and advanced Spanish culture, composition, film, and business courses in Spanish. She is the coordinator of the beginner and intermediate levels here at Bryant and overseas all Spanish activities related to Spanish students. Spanish Days, Spanish Tables, and other events that directly relate to Spanish students. She has also served as a mentor and In addition, she is also the faculty advisor for BUSCO (Bryant University's Spanish Cultural Organization). This organization was founded under her guidance in 2006. She has been involved with Bryant's Sophomore International Experience (SIE) Latin America since 2009 and has co-taught the course since 2010. SIE Latin America course’s themes are international business, culture, and service-learning. This course is taught in Fall semesters and once complete, she travels to Central or South America with SIE students so that full immersion can take place in the Spanish language and culture for a two-week period. She has taken Bryant students to Ecuador, Panama, Costa Rica, Argentina and Chile. Lastly, Patricia has been involved with PLAFF (Providence Latin American Film Festival) since 2010 when Bryant became a main venue and has served as a board member since 2014.
